New Jersey National Guard members who have completed Initial Active Duty Training and are in good standing may transfer their tuition-free benefit (up to 16 credits per semester at public institutions) to a spouse or dependent child

The spouse or dependent child receiving the transferred benefit must be enrolled in good standing as an undergraduate or graduate student at a New Jersey public institution of higher education

Recipients of the transferred benefit must apply for all available state and federal student grants and scholarships for which they are eligible

Each Guard member may only transfer the tuition benefit to one person (either a spouse or a dependent child, not both)

The bill amends existing law N.J.S.18A:62-24 which currently provides tuition benefits only to Guard members themselves, not their family members
