Exempts elected officials (U.S. Senators, U.S. Representatives from New Jersey, and state/local officeholders elected by voters) from prohibitions on possessing handguns, rifles, and shotguns at all times while in New Jersey during their term of office

Exempts chiefs of staff appointed by elected officials from firearm possession prohibitions while performing official duties during the elected official's term

Requires elected officials and their chiefs of staff to complete a Police Training Commission-approved firearms training course before qualifying for the exemption

Mandates annual qualification in the use of a revolver or similar weapon to maintain the exemption

Takes effect immediately upon enactment
