New Jersey would join the Interstate Dental and Dental Hygiene Licensure Compact, allowing dentists and dental hygienists licensed in any member state to practice in other member states without obtaining separate licenses

The compact creates a commission with two voting commissioners from each member state dental board to oversee administration, promulgate rules, maintain a clearinghouse for disciplinary actions, and ensure compliance

Eligible practitioners must have graduated from accredited programs, passed required examinations (ADEX and national board exams), hold unrestricted licenses, have no criminal convictions other than traffic offenses, and have no disciplinary history

Active-duty military members and their spouses are exempt from compact fees and receive expedited licensure privileges, with fee waivers extending up to one year after separation from service

The compact becomes effective when five states enact it; member states retain authority to take adverse actions against compact license holders and must report disciplinary actions to a shared clearinghouse
