For-profit movie theaters showing first-run motion pictures may obtain a plenary retail consumption license from their municipality with approval from the Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control

Alcohol sales are permitted during the two hours before showings and during the screening of first-run motion pictures

Initial license fee is at least $210,000, payable in three installments over 18 months; fee reduces to $150,000 if 10% of alcohol sold is produced by New Jersey craft breweries, wineries, cideries, meaderies, or distilleries

Licenses may only be transferred to other motion picture exhibition facilities at the same or adjacent premises and do not count toward municipal license quotas

The law takes effect on the first day of the fourth month following enactment
