Licensed acupuncturists would be authorized to order diagnostic tests including x-rays, CT scans, MRIs, bone scans, EMGs, bioanalytical laboratory tests, hormone saliva tests, and reagent strip tests consistent with acupuncture practice

"Expanded practice" would allow acupuncturists to prescribe, administer, inject, compound, and dispense homeopathic medicines, sterile water, saline, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, herbal extracts, blood products, lidocaine, procaine, and ozone

Currently licensed acupuncturists can obtain expanded practice certification by completing at least 8 hours of diagnostic test ordering training, 60 hours of injection therapy training, and 40 hours of intravenous therapy training with passage of the National IV Association technician examination

IV certification must be renewed biennially, requiring 25 continuing education credits for renewal eligibility

Acupuncturists with expanded practice certification must comply with U.S. Pharmacopeia and National Formulary compounding requirements, with the act taking effect 10 months after enactment
