New Jersey urges the United States Congress to continue progress toward creating the National Museum of the American Latino within the Smithsonian Institution

Congress passed the National Museum of the American Latino Act in 2020 with bipartisan support, directing the museum to be located on or near the National Mall to the maximum extent practicable

Approximately 60 million American Latinos represent the largest ethnic minority in the United States and are projected to comprise 25 percent of the nation's population by 2060

The resolution notes that while national museums exist for African-Americans and Native Americans, no national museum is wholly dedicated to American Latinos

Copies of the resolution will be transmitted to the President, Vice President, congressional leadership, and all members of Congress from New Jersey
