Requests the Governor to annually issue a proclamation recognizing the weekend and calls upon public officials and citizens to observe it with appropriate activities and programs

Recognizes Vaisakhi as an important Sikh harvest festival originating in 1699 when Guru Gobind Singh unified Sikhs and established the Khalsa (community of baptized Sikhs)

Acknowledges Sikhism as the world's fifth largest religion with over 25 million adherents worldwide and approximately 500,000 in the United States
