Designates May of each year as "Maternal Mental Health Month" in New Jersey

Requests the Governor to annually issue a proclamation recognizing the observance

Recognizes that perinatal mood and anxiety disorders affect one in five to one in seven women during pregnancy or the postpartum period

Notes that untreated maternal mental disorders increase risks of suicide and psychosis in mothers, and can impact child development including malnutrition

Acknowledges New Jersey's existing resources including a Department of Health maternal mood disorders helpline and the Maternal and Child Health Consortia
