New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) must conduct a study within one year on alternative drinking water supply sources when perfluoroalkyl or polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) exceed maximum contaminant levels

Study must identify alternative water supplies available to public community water systems when PFAS contamination is discovered and evaluate feasibility of using those alternatives

DEP required to solicit input from public water system representatives, academic institutions, and environmental organizations, with optional public hearings

Written report with findings, recommendations, and legislative proposals must be submitted to the Governor and Legislature within one year and posted on DEP's website

If the report deadline is missed, the DEP Commissioner must appear before legislative committees to explain the delay; the bill expires 30 days after the report is submitted
