Health care providers diagnosing or treating breast cancer must concurrently order bilateral ultrasound, MRI, 3D mammography, or other additional breast testing when ordering a mammogram for women with breast cancer risk factors.

All health insurers in New Jersey, including hospital service corporations, medical service corporations, health maintenance organizations, and individual/group health plans, must cover the additional testing when ordered concurrently with mammograms.

Coverage requirements apply to the State Health Benefits Program and School Employees' Health Benefits Program.

Insurance coverage for concurrent testing must be provided to the same extent as coverage for any other medical condition under the policy.

The bill takes effect on the first day of the fourth month following enactment, with the Commissioner of Health authorized to adopt implementing regulations.
