Requires installation of fuel gas sensor devices in dwelling units in buildings with fewer than three units, hotels, multiple dwellings, and rooming/boarding houses, in addition to existing carbon monoxide sensor requirements.

Fuel gas sensor devices must comply with Underwriters Laboratories Standard 2075 or 1484 and be installed according to National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 715 standards.

Local fire officials must inspect dwelling units upon change of occupancy and require fuel gas sensor installation upon first inspection, with possible deferral to the second inspection if existing smoke and CO detectors pass inspection.

Combination devices that detect both carbon monoxide and fuel gas satisfy the requirements of the bill.

Takes effect 180 days after enactment; owners who fail to comply with carbon monoxide sensor requirements face fines up to $100, though this penalty does not apply to fuel gas sensor noncompliance.
