New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs must establish a Disabled Veterans Transportation Task Force to study, evaluate, and develop recommendations addressing transportation needs of disabled veterans.

Task force membership includes the Adjutant General, Commissioner of Transportation, NJ Transit President, at least three disabled veterans, three veterans organization representatives, and three county commissioners representing different geographic regions of the state.

Task force must hold at least three public hearings in different parts of New Jersey and must hold its initial organizational meeting within three months of the act's effective date.

Duties include identifying ways to improve transportation opportunities, identifying barriers, developing travel expense reimbursement recommendations including mileage-based options, and proposing legislation.

An interim report is due within six months and a final report within 12 months of the initial meeting, with reports posted publicly on the DMVA website.
