School districts must ensure newly installed electrically operated partitions have dual key-operated control stations at opposite ends requiring simultaneous activation, reversible controls, and automatic stop devices when objects are detected in the partition's path

Pre-existing partitions without these safety features cannot be operated when students or non-operators are present, must only be operated by trained personnel, and require posted signage stating these restrictions

All districts with electrically operated partitions must post safety notices near partitions, establish notification procedures for regular users, train staff on safe operation including discussion of past accidents, and maintain training records

Students are prohibited from operating partitions; they may only be present during operation if modern safety features are installed, and must remain under direct supervision away from the moving partition

School districts must annually report to the Commissioner of Education any incidents where partition malfunctions caused injuries, and the act takes effect one year after enactment
