Creates a new "Fire Escape Contractor" certification classification in New Jersey, requiring that only registered design professionals (licensed architects or professional engineers) or employees of certified fire escape contractors may install, service, repair, inspect, or maintain fire escapes

Defines "fire escape" as an additional means of egress installed on existing buildings when more than one exit is required and insufficient space exists for an exterior stair within the lot line

Requires the Commissioner of Community Affairs to adopt rules and regulations for determining which companies may be certified as fire escape contractors

Amends existing fire protection contractor laws (P.L.2001, c.289 and P.L.1983, c.383) to add fire escape contractors alongside other certified classifications such as fire sprinkler, fire alarm, and smoke damper contractors

Takes effect immediately upon enactment and is pre-filed for introduction in the 2026 legislative session
