NJ Transit must establish a two-year pilot program to equip all light rail train sets operating in southern New Jersey with opioid antidotes such as naloxone (Narcan)

Each train set must have at least two doses of an opioid antidote stored in secure, easily accessible locations marked with bilingual signs (English and Spanish) and instructions for recognizing overdoses and administering treatment

Opening an antidote storage location triggers a silent alert to the train operator, who must then contact emergency services at the nearest station

NJ Transit employees are required to perform routine checks and maintain records of antidote supplies but are not required to administer the antidotes or receive specialized training

$100,000 is appropriated from the General Fund to implement the program, with a report due to the Governor and Legislature within six months after the pilot ends
