Veterans in New Jersey would receive free admission to State parks, forests, and State-owned historic sites on Memorial Day, Armed Forces Day, Independence Day, Patriot Day, and Veterans Day.

Historic properties acquired or preserved using State funding by local governments or qualifying nonprofit organizations must also waive admission fees for veterans on these five designated holidays.

County and municipality-owned historic sites would be required to provide free admission to veterans on the same five patriotic holidays.

"Veteran" is defined as any New Jersey resident discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable from the Armed Forces, Reserve components, National Guard, or American Merchant Marine members who served during World War II and qualify for federal veterans' benefits.

The bill expands existing law that already provides free admission for veterans during veterans' organization events and for Gold Star Family members at any time.
