Private motorbus operators must provide at least 4 months written notice to the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission and NJ Transit Corporation before substantially curtailing regular route service

Operators must give customers at least 3 months written notice before service curtailment and hold at least one public meeting in the affected area within 15 days of customer notification

Public meeting notices must be sent to the Motor Vehicle Commission, NJ Transit, affected state legislators, municipal mayors and governing bodies, and county commissioners

Violations carry civil penalties of up to $10,000 per violation, in addition to any other penalties available under law

The law excludes charter bus, special bus, casino bus operations, and routes primarily operated for tourism or recreational purposes
