New Jersey hospitals and birthing facilities would be required to show new parents an informational water safety video before discharge as part of standard discharge procedures

The Commissioner of Health must prepare and distribute the video, which may be made available through the Department of Health's website or other electronic means

Video content must cover drowning risks in bathtubs, pools, and other bodies of water, as well as instruction on swimming, water safety, water rescue, and CPR skills

The video must also include information on life jackets, age-appropriate flotation devices, anti-entrapment drain covers, safety release systems, and pool fences

Any adult family members present at the infant's birth must also be shown the video prior to the new parent's discharge
