School districts must incorporate age-appropriate bullying awareness and prevention education in grades preschool through 12 as part of the New Jersey Student Learning Standards in Comprehensive Health and Physical Education

Required instruction covers definitions of bullying, types of bullying (physical, verbal, social, and cyberbullying), permanence of social media posts, ways to seek help, and potential consequences for perpetrators including disciplinary and criminal actions

Education must develop awareness and sensitivity to how bullying may be exacerbated by intolerance based on race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender or gender identity, abilities, or other distinguishing characteristics

The Commissioner of Education must provide school districts with age-appropriate sample learning activities and resources

Takes effect immediately and applies beginning in the first full school year following enactment
