Department of Health, in consultation with the Department of Education, must develop informational materials on type 1 diabetes to be posted on the DOE website

School districts are required to make the informational materials available to parents and guardians of enrolled students

Materials must include a description of type 1 diabetes, risk factors, warning signs, and a recommendation to consult a primary care provider if warning signs are present

Materials must describe the screening process for type 1 diabetes, implications of test results, and recommend developing a treatment plan with healthcare providers following diagnosis

Information must address diabetes care provisions in schools following a type 1 diagnosis under existing state law (P.L.2009, c.131)
