Requires health insurance carriers in New Jersey to cover at least one abuse-deterrent opioid analgesic drug product per opioid active ingredient on their prescription drug formulary

Caps cost-sharing for abuse-deterrent opioids at the lowest amount charged for equivalent non-abuse-deterrent opioids (brand-name compared to brand-name, generic to generic)

Prohibits insurers from requiring patients to first try a non-abuse-deterrent opioid before accessing an abuse-deterrent version through prior authorization or utilization review

Bans increases in patient cost-sharing or disincentives for prescribers and dispensers related to abuse-deterrent opioid products

Takes effect 90 days after enactment and applies to insurance policies delivered, issued, executed, or renewed after that date
