School districts must address all relevant devices including smartphones, basic phones, and smartwatches, and provide storage options such as locked pouches and cell phone lockers

Districts are required to establish network-based restrictions blocking social media platforms and communicate policies to students, families, and staff

Each board of education must adopt a policy consistent with the Commissioner's guidelines, though districts may adopt stricter rules and may apply for exemptions from the requirement
