Expectant mothers in their third trimester of pregnancy may obtain a temporary parking placard allowing them to park overtime at metered spots and use disability parking spaces throughout New Jersey

Municipal chiefs of police must issue the temporary placards upon written certification from licensed physicians, physician assistants, midwives, or nurse practitioners confirming third trimester pregnancy

Temporary placards are valid for three months, must clearly display the expiration date, and the expectant mother does not need to be physically present for issuance

The fee for obtaining a temporary placard is $4, payable to the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission

The placard design and size will be determined by the Chief Administrator of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, with a standard certification form developed in consultation with local police chiefs
