Surviving spouses of retired Police and Firemen's Retirement System (PFRS) members who were receiving accidental disability retirement allowances at death become eligible to enroll in the State Health Benefits Program with premiums paid in full by the State for the spouse and dependent children

Allows surviving spouses to continue receiving pension benefits upon remarriage, overriding current law that terminates benefits upon remarriage

Requires surviving spouses to provide documentation approved by the PFRS Board of Trustees proving that the disability-causing injury, its complications, or aggravation of a preexisting condition was a significant contributing factor in the retired member's death

The State assumes responsibility for any increased employer contributions to the retirement system resulting from continued pension payments after remarriage

Surviving spouses whose pensions were previously terminated due to remarriage may apply to have benefits reinstated beginning from the date of application
