Mandates health insurance coverage for lipedema treatment in New Jersey, including compression garments, manual lymphatic drainage, medical nutrition therapy, mental health care, and medically necessary lipectomies with pre- and post-operative appointments.

Applies to all major health insurance types: hospital/medical/health service corporations, individual and group policies, HMOs, small employer plans, and State/School Employees' Health Benefits Programs.

Limits documentation requirements to a physician's lipedema diagnosis and, for surgery, the surgeon's supporting photographs and determination of how many lipectomies are medically necessary.

Requires prior authorization for lipectomies to remain valid for one year and must be honored by new carriers if the patient switches insurance plans during that period.

Takes effect on the first day of the sixth month following enactment and applies to contracts entered into or renewed after that date.
