Consumer contracts for services must apply only to the specific service purchased and cannot contain provisions governing purchases of other products or services from the same company or its affiliates

"Consumer contract" is defined as a written agreement for services obtained for personal, family, or household purposes

Securities transactions with SEC-registered broker-dealers and commodities transactions with CFTC-registered futures commission merchants are excluded from the law

Takes effect 180 days after enactment (approved July 8, 2025) and applies to contracts entered into or renewed after that date
