Public high school students who observe Ramadan may substitute their required physical education course with an instructional course or study hall for the marking period in which Ramadan occurs, receiving equivalent graduation credits

Students must submit written notice to the school principal before the district creates schedules for the marking period to request the physical education exemption

Student-athletes observing Ramadan may be excused from interscholastic sports, intramural sports, or cheerleading programs for the duration of Ramadan by submitting written notice to their coach

Coaches are prohibited from penalizing student-athletes who choose to be excused from athletic participation during Ramadan

The bill does not exempt students from the required two and one-half hours per week of health and safety education courses
