Requires fuel gas sensor devices in dwelling units in buildings with fewer than three units, hotels, multiple dwellings, and rooming/boarding houses, in addition to existing carbon monoxide sensor requirements

Fuel gas sensors must comply with Underwriters Laboratories Standard 2075 or 1484 and be installed according to NFPA 715 standards; combination devices that detect both carbon monoxide and fuel gas satisfy requirements

Municipal fire officials must inspect dwelling units upon change of occupancy to verify smoke detectors, carbon monoxide sensors, and fuel gas sensors are functional and require immediate repair or replacement of deficient devices

Installation of fuel gas sensors may be deferred until the second inspection if existing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors pass the first inspection, but cannot be deferred beyond two inspections after the law takes effect

Takes effect 180 days after enactment; existing $100 fine for noncompliance with carbon monoxide sensor requirements does not apply to fuel gas sensor violations
