Cable television (CATV), direct broadcast satellite, and television streaming service companies must advertise the total billable amount consumers will actually be charged, including all fees for minimum required equipment per television set.

Advertised prices must include broadcast programming fees, administrative and service fees, regional sports network fees, and equipment rental fees such as set-top boxes and remotes.

Companies are not required to include federally or state-mandated taxes and fees in advertised prices, but must indicate that such additional charges may apply.

Violations constitute an unlawful practice under New Jersey's consumer fraud act, with penalties up to $10,000 for first offenses and $20,000 for subsequent offenses, plus potential cease and desist orders, punitive damages, and treble damages.

The law takes effect immediately but remains inoperative for 60 days following enactment.
