Amends New Jersey's Municipal Land Use Law to classify certain energy storage projects as an "inherently beneficial use," which streamlines local zoning approvals for such projects.

Energy storage projects eligible for incentives from the NJ Board of Public Utilities would qualify, including those under the Successor Solar Incentive Program, Competitive Solar Incentive Program, and Garden State Energy Storage Program.

"Inherently beneficial use" designation places energy storage alongside hospitals, schools, child care centers, group homes, and wind/solar facilities as uses presumed to serve the public good.

Projects with this classification receive favorable treatment in zoning variance proceedings, as they are universally considered of value to the community and promote general welfare.
