Dogs, including emotional support dogs, may temporarily visit residents at State veterans' memorial homes and Veterans Haven facilities in New Jersey

Family members may bring dogs to visit residents, and animal shelters, nonprofit organizations, and charity groups may bring dogs at the facility's request

Dogs must be leashed or harnessed indoors, though outdoor visits by organization-brought dogs may be off-leash at handler and facility discretion

Dogs can be denied access or removed if not under handler control, not trained to eliminate waste outdoors, or posing health/safety risks to people or other dogs

Visiting dogs (except service dogs) must have current rabies vaccination and core canine vaccines including distemper, parvovirus, and adenovirus-2 before being permitted at facilities
