Mandates all health insurers in New Jersey to cover expenses for Lyme disease treatment deemed medically necessary by a patient's physician following a written evaluation of symptoms, condition, and treatment response

Applies to hospital service corporations, medical service corporations, health service corporations, individual and group health insurance policies, HMOs, and small employer health benefits plans

Prohibits insurers from denying coverage for Lyme disease treatment solely because it may be characterized as experimental or investigational

Extends coverage requirements to the State Health Benefits Program and School Employees' Health Benefits Program

Takes effect 90 days after enactment and applies to all policies where the insurer has reserved the right to change premiums
