Urges the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders to name the bridge on County Route 18 (Ocean Avenue) between the Borough of Belmar and the Borough of Avon-by-the-Sea in honor of Jeffrey Mahon and Jeffrey Hoens

Jeffrey Mahon was raised in Avon-by-the-Sea and died in a motor vehicle accident at age 20 while attending Benedictine College in Kansas; his brother Terence Mahon serves as Avon-by-the-Sea Chief of Police

Jeffrey Hoens was a Westfield resident and volunteer hockey coach for young people with developmental disabilities who died on July 16, 2016 while free diving near the bridge

The two tragedies are connected as Jeffrey Hoens' death occurred on July 16, which was Jeffrey Mahon's birthday, and the search and rescue mission was personal for the Avon-by-the-Sea police department

Copies of the resolution will be transmitted to each member of the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders
