Removes the current 75-year age limit for retired law enforcement officers to obtain special permits to carry handguns in New Jersey

Allows retired law enforcement officers of any age to continue carrying handguns, provided they meet all other existing requirements

Retired officers must still semi-annually qualify in handgun use, pay associated qualification costs, and have retired in good standing

Applies to retired officers from State Police, county/municipal police, sheriffs, correctional officers, transit police, campus police, and other specified law enforcement positions

Officers remain subject to disqualification if they become subject to disabilities under N.J.S.2C:58-3 (such as criminal convictions or mental health commitments)
