Expands New Jersey optometrists' scope of practice to include laser procedures (trabeculoplasty, capsulotomy, iridotomy), treatment of chalazions, excision of skin tags and benign lesions, and prescribing controlled dangerous substances.

Authorizes optometrists to administer immunizations against coronaviruses, influenza, and varicella-zoster virus to patients 18 years and older, with reporting requirements to the New Jersey Immunization Information System.

Prohibits optometrists from performing invasive intra-ocular surgery requiring full-thickness globe incisions, orbital or strabismus surgery, procedures requiring layered suturing, and any procedures under general anesthesia.

Requires optometrists seeking authorization for new procedures to complete training through an accredited optometry school and receive proctored supervision from an authorized optometrist or board-certified ophthalmologist.

Holds optometrists to the same standard of patient care as licensed physicians performing the same procedures when treating ocular conditions.
