Amends N.J.S.2A:31-5 to expand recoverable damages in wrongful death lawsuits beyond pecuniary (financial) losses

Adds four new categories of compensable damages: mental anguish, emotional pain and suffering, loss of society, and loss of companionship

Current law limits wrongful death damages to pecuniary injuries plus hospital, medical, and funeral expenses

Takes effect immediately upon passage and applies to all causes of action arising on or after the effective date
