Water suppliers must immediately notify municipal governing bodies and chief administrators of all school districts, charter schools, nonpublic schools, and institutions of higher education by telephone and email when a Tier 2 Public Notice violation occurs under EPA drinking water regulations.

Notifications must include the specific contaminant name, applicable maximum contaminant level or action level, actual contamination levels found, testing dates, and locations of all samples including those exceeding standards.

Water system owners must also provide affected parties with information on suggested remedies customers can take to address the violation.

The bill supplements New Jersey's existing Safe Drinking Water Act (P.L.1977, c.224) and would take effect immediately upon enactment.
