Expands the definition of "health care professional" in New Jersey's aggravated assault statute (N.J.S.2C:12-1) to align with the "Health Care Heroes Violence Prevention Act" (P.L.2023, c.48)

Current law limits protection to health care workers employed by licensed facilities to provide direct patient care and licensed health care professionals under Title 26 or Title 45

New definition includes volunteers working for health care professionals or at health care facilities, supportive services staff members, and any employees of health care professionals or facilities while performing official duties

Aggravated assault on covered health care personnel remains a crime of the third degree if bodily injury results, or a crime of the fourth degree otherwise
