NJ Transit employees and contracted motorbus operators providing regular route service must complete a one-time training course on handling and responding to suspected human trafficking activities.

Current NJ Transit employees must complete training within two years of the bill's effective date, while new employees must complete it within six months of hire.

Training courses must include demonstrations and information on known signs and signals used by human trafficking victims seeking assistance or observable in public spaces.

NJ Transit may waive the requirement for contracted motorbus operators if the private entity already requires an equal or greater human trafficking training course.

The bill also adds the signs and signals training requirement to existing human trafficking courses for police, hotel/motel staff, healthcare facility employees, and judges.
