Licensed mental health practitioners in New Jersey must complete a minimum of two hours of suicide prevention training within one year of the bill's enactment and two hours annually thereafter

Covered practitioners include clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists, alcohol and drug counselors, professional counselors, associate counselors, rehabilitation counselors, clinical mental health counselors, psychologists, and psychoanalysts

Training may be completed online, in person, or by phone, and must cover prevention, assessment, screening, treatment, and management of suicide in clinical settings

The Division of Consumer Affairs must establish a list of approved training programs, considering those endorsed by the Suicide Prevention Resource Center, SAMHSA, and other nationally recognized organizations

The bill takes effect 90 days after enactment, and practitioners must submit proof of completion to their respective State Board of Examiners or Committee
