Institutions of higher education in New Jersey must promptly notify the relevant State licensing board when they receive a report of alleged sexual misconduct by an employed health care professional.

Licensing boards are required to initiate an investigation upon receiving such notification to determine whether disciplinary charges or license suspension should be pursued.

Institutions reporting in good faith and without malice receive immunity from civil liability for damages arising from the notification.

The bill does not prevent institutions from conducting their own internal investigations or imposing disciplinary action on the alleged perpetrator.

Institutions retain the authority to report suspected crimes to law enforcement authorities independently of the licensing board notification requirement.
