Expands eligibility for police chiefs to work beyond the mandatory retirement age of 65 under P.L.2022, c.9, which currently allows certain chiefs to serve until age 67 with appointing authority approval.

Extends the retirement age exception to deputy police chiefs who were serving on April 12, 2022 and were promoted to police chief within 12 months of that date (by April 30, 2023).

Applies to members of the Police and Firemen's Retirement System (PFRS) who will turn 65 between April 12, 2022 and the end of the 60th calendar month following (2027).

Requires written approval from the appointing authority for retention and continued service beyond age 65 for eligible police or fire chiefs.
