Requires prescriptions to be written by a licensed physician, physician's assistant, or advanced practice nurse, and dispensed through retail or mail-order pharmacies approved by the prescriber.

Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare coverage is contingent upon federal approval of necessary waivers or state plan amendments under Title XIX of the Social Security Act.

Takes effect on the first day of the seventh month following enactment, with the State Treasurer and Commissioner of Human Services authorized to adopt implementing regulations.

Aims to reduce obesity-related health problems in New Jersey, where 28.6 percent of residents were classified as obese in 2022 according to state health data.
