Pediatricians who do not specialize in behavioral or developmental health care may treat children with low-acuity behavioral or developmental conditions, including anxiety and stress, as determined by the State Board of Medical Examiners.

Advanced practice nurses who do not specialize in pediatric behavioral or developmental health care gain the same authority to provide care for children with low-acuity behavioral or developmental conditions, as determined by the New Jersey Board of Nursing.

The State Board of Medical Examiners and the New Jersey Board of Nursing must each adopt rules and regulations to implement the expanded scope of practice.

The bill amends P.L.1991, c.377 governing advanced practice nurse authority and takes effect immediately upon enactment.
