Health club facilities must notify members by mail or electronically of any change in ownership and the date of the transfer before the sale occurs.

Health club service contracts cannot be assigned to a new owner without written consent from each member, which may include electronic acknowledgement sent separately from the original contract.

If the new owner fails to obtain written consent from a member within 30 days of the ownership change, the member's contract is automatically canceled unless the member later consents.

All health club service contracts must include a provision informing members of these ownership transfer notification and consent requirements.

The law applies to all health club service contracts entered into on or after the bill's effective date.
