Upgrades auto theft from a third-degree to a first-degree crime when committed during a home invasion burglary, punishable by 10-20 years imprisonment and fines up to $200,000

Upgrades auto theft to a second-degree crime when committed during a residential burglary, punishable by 5-10 years imprisonment and fines up to $150,000

Extends the upgraded penalties to attempted auto theft committed during these burglaries, not just completed thefts

Prevents conviction for auto theft from merging with convictions for home invasion or residential burglary, allowing separate sentences for each offense

Amends P.L.2023, c.101, which currently only upgrades auto theft to second-degree when vehicles are valued at $75,000+ or multiple vehicles are stolen
