Long-term care facilities (nursing homes, assisted living residences, comprehensive personal care homes, residential health care facilities, and dementia care homes) must meet with each resident at least once annually to review their proxy directive for accuracy and currency.

A proxy directive is defined as a written legal document designating an adult with decision-making capacity to act as a resident's representative if the resident loses decision-making capacity as determined by a court or authorized practitioner.

Residents are not required to execute or maintain a proxy directive under this legislation.

The bill would take effect immediately upon enactment.
