Department of Human Services must establish an enhanced training curriculum for direct support professionals within 120 days of the act's effective date

New employees must complete the training within 90 days of starting employment; existing employees have 210 days from the effective date to complete training

Required training topics include prevention of abuse and neglect, first aid, CPR, medication administration, and facility policies and procedures

Additional training as necessary covers feeding techniques and nutrition, resident mobility procedures, seizure disorder care, care for persons with disabilities including multiple sclerosis, and behavioral/mental health needs care

Direct support professionals include all full-time, part-time, temporary, and contract employees at community residences for persons with developmental disabilities who work directly with individuals served
