Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) must establish a research program to analyze the impact of New Jersey's Criminal Justice Reform Act (P.L.2014, c.31), which reformed bail and pretrial detention starting January 1, 2017.

Required research areas include: number of persons released from pretrial detention after the act's implementation, whether releases increased, new crimes committed by those released pretrial, and crime rate changes in urban, suburban, and rural communities.

AOC must prepare and publish annual reports summarizing findings on the judiciary website, with reports transmitted to the Governor and Legislature.

Reports must exclude personally identifying information and will supplement existing reporting requirements under section 17 of P.L.2014, c.31.
