Removes the requirement for long-term care facilities to assign a physician with an infectious disease fellowship to their infection prevention and control committee

Expands acceptable infection preventionist certifications to include the American Health Care Association Infection Preventionist Specialized Training program and the Nursing Home Infection Preventionist Training course

Limits infection preventionists to serving on no more than five infection prevention and control committees and allows them to perform other duties within their scope of practice when infection prevention duties are not required

Changes employment requirements so facilities with more than 100 beds or on-site hemodialysis services may employ infection preventionists part-time rather than requiring full-time, unless a federal risk assessment determines full-time is necessary

Removes the requirement that infection preventionists be managerial employees and assigns responsibility for policy development, training, and compliance monitoring jointly to the infection preventionist and the infection prevention and control committee
